There’s a packed programme of theatre, music and family entertainment at Shakespeare North Playhouse this June, with something for everyone to enjoy.
From Shakespearean classics to family shows, the Prescot venue continues to bring a vibrant mix of culture to the borough.
Nell Gwynn, Friday 12 June – Saturday 4 July
Nell Gwynn tells the story of England’s first actress in a lively, feminist comedy packed with wit, music and royal intrigue. Audiences can expect a bold and entertaining look at Restoration London and the life of a true trailblazer.
The Comedy of Errors, Wednesday 17 – Thursday 18 June
The Festival Players return with Shakespeare’s classic farce, promising chaos, confusion and fast-paced storytelling. Featuring original music and plenty of comedy, this is a lively take on one of the Bard’s earliest works.
Lambslaughter, Thursday 18 – Friday 19 June
A powerful and thought-provoking drama, Lambslaughter explores themes of girlhood, power and survival in the early days of the smartphone era. This gripping production brings contemporary storytelling to the stage.
Romeo and Juliet, Friday 26 – Saturday 27 June
A fresh and family-friendly take on the legendary love story, this energetic production blends humour, music and accessible storytelling to bring Shakespeare to life for all ages.

Afternoon Opera: Classic Arias, Wednesday 24 June
Part of the Prescot Festival of Music & the Arts, this one-hour recital showcases some of opera’s most beloved arias in a relaxed, accessible setting
The Gramophones: Take Flight, Saturday 27 June
Designed especially for the youngest audiences (ages 0–2), this gentle and imaginative aerial theatre performance creates a magical sensory experience for babies and their grown-ups.

Shakespeare North Playhouse hosts a range of regular events and activities throughout June, some are free and you can just drop in!
To Brew or Not To Brew – second Tuesday of the month from 2 – 4pm
To Brew or not to Brew is a monthly meet-up at Shakespeare North to have a brew and a chat. It’s a space for people to talk whether it’s for five minutes while you have a brew, or an hour of good conversation. No need to book – just turn up.

Chatty Café – every Wednesday & Saturday 11am-1pm
Chatter & Natter is a weekly meet-up at Shakespeare North to have a chat – a space for people to talk whether it’s for five minutes while you have a brew, or an hour of good conversation. No booking or ticket needed – just drop in.
Baby Bards – every Tuesday 11.15am
An early years story and language session for pre school children aged 18 months to 4 years old. Introducing story, letters and phonics through readings and fun activities, your little ones will be Bards in no time. (Each child attending should be accompanied by an adult.) Booking required.
Guided Tours(Various dates throughout June)
Explore behind the scenes of the Cockpit Theatre and learn more about the history, design and stories behind Shakespeare North Playhouse. Tours run regularly across the month. Booking required.
