More than 140 people gathered for a sold-out evening with BAFTA award-winning screenwriter Jimmy McGovern at Huyton Library on Monday 18 May, in what proved to be a standout early event in this year’s Knowsley Libraries Literature Festival.
Best known for his powerful storytelling in acclaimed television dramas including Time, Care and Cracker, McGovern shared insights into his remarkable career, offering a candid and engaging look at the inspiration behind his work and the social issues that shape his writing.
The evening also featured an interactive Q&A session, with attendees taking the opportunity to ask questions about his creative process, standout projects and the challenges of writing for television.
The event was part of the inaugural Knowsley Libraries Literature Festival, with the main programme set to launch in June. A diverse range of author events, talks and activities will take place at libraries across Knowsley, celebrating reading, writing and storytelling for all ages.
