Renowned artist Martin Heron will be visiting Huyton town centre from Tuesday 18th to Tuesday 25th June to engage with the public about ideas and memories for a new Huyton public art trail.
Martin will be delivering hands-on ‘sand casting’ workshops in Huyton’s MAKE on the Corner, Derby Road in Huyton town centre and will also visit local groups for morning or afternoon sessions.
Themed around Huyton’s heritage and local stories, participants will have the opportunity to produce their own small sand casting artwork to take home.
We are asking participants to bring along small objects to cast that have some significance to them personally, or has a specific link to Huyton’s history. The hour-long sessions begin with participants making an imprint in the sand followed by the pouring of plaster to cast the mould.
Public sessions will be taking place at MAKE on the corner on:
Wednesday 19 June, 12noon-4pm
Thursday 20 June, 12noon-4pm
Friday 21 June, 12noon-4pm
Saturday 22, June 12noon-4pm
Sunday 23, June 12noon-4pm
There is also the opportunity for local community groups to participate, with Martin visiting locations around the borough to facilitate workshops. If your community group would like to be part of this project please contact Katy McLoughlin at katy.mcloughlin@knowsley.gov.uk
