This weekend, Prescot is set to be transported back in time to an era of grandeur, intrigue, and merriment.
On Saturday,7 June (11am – 5pm) Prescot Town Centre will burst to life with the return of the much-anticipated Elizabethan Fayre.
This FREE, family-friendly extravaganza promises a day packed with enchanting entertainment, captivating crafts, and historical wonders for all ages.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said:
“The Elizabethan Fayre is a highlight in Prescot’s annual calendar, and we are delighted to once again welcome residents and visitors to this wonderful event. It provides a superb opportunity to engage with the town’s remarkable history in a fun and interactive way. We’ve got something for everyone, from exciting performances to hands-on activities, and I encourage you all to come and be a part of this special community event.”

- Join the valiant Sir Manly or his charming wife Lady Lovely in “Smoked,” a delightful storybook walkabout seeking the brave of heart to join the noble Order of St. George: Defender of Dragons.
- Unleash your inner bard with The Story Forge: Make Your Own Tudor Myth. Help shape tales and even become a hero from English folklore in an interactive experience that promises belly laughs and historical fun.
- Marvel at the mesmerizing fire jesters as they unleash their dynamic fire dancing skills, an unforgettable spectacle of light and movement.
- Gather ’round for Terrible Tudor Tales, stories whispered in tavern yards and marketplaces long ago, now brought back to life for your chilling enjoyment.
- Unleash your creativity by designing your own Elizabethan shadow puppets and staging your very own captivating shadow puppet show.
- Watch in awe as the Bubble Fairy conjures colossal, shimmering bubbles that will delight children and adults alike.
- Learn some new circus tricks, test your aim with archery, or get hands-on by making your own clay pot or candle.
- Keep your eyes peeled for living history itself – Queen Elizabeth and Sir Francis Drake will be gracing the Fayre with their royal presence, offering a unique opportunity for a photo with royalty.
- The air will be alive with vibrant dancing and enchanting music, while craft workshops and artisan stalls offer unique treasures and opportunities to learn new skills.
- Witness the majestic beauty of birds of prey and delve deeper into Prescot’s rich and fascinating past with local historian Alan Makin.
- Pop into Shakespeare North Playhouse for a tour of the award-winning theatre and venue, enjoy a selection of Tudor-inspired snacks and treats from the Bar and Kitchen or book tickets for performances of Macbeth and Terminal 2.
