A brand new 5-week course aimed at women looking to develop a career in the arts industry is coming to Huyton Library in February
‘Rise Up’ has been commissioned as part of a Knowsley Libraries project in conjunction with the Business & IP Centre Liverpool City Region to provide business information resources and activities to support local communities.
The course will be delivered by Paperwork Theatre who have developed the training programme for women to develop confidence and employability skills through drama, creative writing and practical skills within the arts.
Beginning on Wednesday 22nd February the sessions will take place at the Culture Hub in Huyton Library between 12.30pm and 3pm. Over five weeks participants will gain new skills and learn about sustaining a career in the arts industry, covering topics such as:
- Being a freelancer
- How to promote your work
- Applying for funding
- Managing budgets and timelines
Cllr Jayne Aston Cabinet Member for Resources. “Often the thing holding people back from pursuing a career in something they have a real passion for is not knowing how to deliver it or make it sustainable. This innovative programme for women is an incredible opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to pursue work in a creative field and to also begin building their own networks.”
The course is free to attend and open to anyone over the age of 16 who identifies as a woman. For more information and to book your place contact Danielle: danielle@paperworktheatre.co.uk
