Knowsley’s libraries are packed with FREE family activities this half term, offering everything from Halloween-themed crafts and storytelling to virtual reality adventures and creative writing workshops.
Throughout the week, every library across the borough will be hosting free daily craft activities, giving children the chance to get creative and take home their own seasonal masterpieces.
A highlight of the programme is the return of the popular Open a Book, Open the World virtual reality experience. Touring all five libraries across the week, the immersive activity allows children and families to step inside stories and discover new worlds through the latest VR technology, bringing books and imagination to life in an exciting new way.
Families can also enjoy the return of interactive storyteller Robin Simpson, who will be visiting Stockbridge Village, Huyton, Halewood and Prescot libraries. With Halloween just around the corner, Robin’s lively storytelling sessions will celebrate all things spooky, featuring witches, wizards, ghosts and goblins in an entertaining experience that encourages children to explore the joy of reading and storytelling.
Young authors with big imaginations can take part in special creative writing workshops delivered by Read Now Write Now in Prescot, Huyton, Stockbridge Village and Halewood libraries. Participants will create their own fantastically spooky characters and develop a short story, helping to build confidence, creativity and writing skills in a fun and supportive environment. Places can be booked by emailing charles@readnowwritenow.org.uk.
On Tuesday 27 October Love Science bring their Spooky Science show to Stockbridge Village with disappearing cats, jumping spiders and slime and on the same day author Alishea Gregory will be reading from her book ‘The Snack Fairies’ at Halewood Library.
With activities taking place right across the borough, Knowsley Libraries is offering plenty of opportunities for children and families to discover new books, learn new skills and enjoy quality time together this half term.
