Tickets are now on sale for a one-time performance from iconic Liverpool band, The Christians at Knowsley’s Leisure and Culture Park.
Known for their soulful and infectious melodies, the band will be supported on Friday 19 May by Daisy Gill, Casino, and Paul Crowe in a celebration of music and musicians from Knowsley and Liverpool City Region.
The gig is brought to Knowsley by BBC Music Introducing presenter, Dave Monks. Dave has his finger on the pulse of the local music scene and has brought together a selection of emerging artists all with local connections to the borough. The three support artists, who have all featured on Dave’s BBC Radio Merseyside show, will bring their own style to create a unique and genre exploring event.
Dave Monks said:
“Knowsley has a rich music heritage but also a thriving present and future, with lots of musicians, songwriters and bands coming out of the borough. I was delighted to be approached to curate a show that showcases such a well-established and renowned band alongside up-and-coming acts in a very special gig that I think people will remember for a long time to come.”
The gig follows the hugely successful Knowsley Music Festival in November 2022. The festival was a highlight of Knowsley’s year as Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture that featured some of Knowsley’s (and Liverpool’s) most famous musical exports including China Crisis, Craig Charles, Space, John Power, Ian Prowse, and The Real Thing.
This one-off gig isn’t the end either, and Knowsley Council’s Culture Team are working behind the scenes to bring Knowsley Music Festival 2023 back this autumn, for a second year.
Tickets for Knowsley Music Festival EXTRA: The Christians featuring Daisy Gill, Casino, and Paul Crowe will be £11 and available from Tuesday 28 March, 7pm at www.cultureknowsley.co.uk

The Christians
The Liverpool band led by iconic frontman Garry Christian, described by one critic as “The Temptations in ripped jeans”, perform their unique brand of “socially aware soul” – that made a big impact on the complacent music scene of the late 80s – drawing on infectious melodies and warm harmonies with a deep emotional undercurrent.
The 1987 double-platinum, self-titled debut album, The Christians, entered the album chart at No.2 and featured the Top 30 singles Forgotten Town, Hooverville, Ideal World, and Born Again.
After a string of hit singles and albums over the 80s and 90s the band continue to record and tour, playing to audiences who still flock to hear the unique and soulful sound.

Casino
Casino bring a riot of classic Motown and Stax mixed with a liberal dash of northern soul and a strong streak of fresh, danceable, irresistible Liverpool melody.
The band have recently gained many plaudits supporting the Lightning Seeds and Jamie Webster at the end of last year, as well as highly lauded performances at Isle of Wight Festival and Y Not Festival.
Paul Crowe
