This summer, Kirkby Gallery is offering a wide range of creative activities and events for visitors of all ages.
Families can get creative at the Random Craft Club. Running from 27 July, sessions take place Monday to Friday from 11am to 3pm and Saturdays from 11am to 12pm, featuring a variety of fun arts and crafts activities. No booking is required and visitors can simply drop in and take part.
Tuesday SEWcials continue throughout the summer, taking place every Tuesday from 10.30am to 12.30pm. These relaxed and friendly sessions provide an opportunity for participants to develop their sewing skills while enjoying a complimentary tea or coffee and biscuit. Attendance is free, but booking is essential. Places can be reserved by emailing galleries@knowsley.gov.uk.
Guests interested in sculpture can take part in two free workshops led by exhibiting artist Julie Dodd this August. On Monday 3 August, from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm, participants will create coral-covered driftwood and stones while learning a variety of paper sculpting techniques. A second workshop on Thursday 6 August, also running from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm, will focus on creating paper butterfly sculptures using sculpting techniques and recycled wood. Both workshops are free to attend, but advance booking is essential.
Kirkby Gallery will also be taking part in this year’s Knowsley Flower Show on Saturday 2 August. Visitors to the gallery marquee will be able to enjoy free creative activities inspired by the upcoming exhibition, Stories of the Sea. Curated by local young people, the exhibition brings a slice of the British seaside to Court Hey Park, with artists leading a range of hands-on activities throughout the day. No booking is required.
Looking ahead, the gallery has an exciting programme planned for later in the year. Its popular Summer Arts sessions for adults are expanding and will run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from September. The much-loved Little BIG Art Club for young artists aged 7 to 12 will also return in September.

Kirkby Gallery looks forward to welcoming visitors for a summer of creativity and inspiration.
