Families are invited to come and ‘Explore Outdoors’ at Knowsley’s parks and green spaces this summer.
There is fun for all the family with activities, workshops and events have been organised by Knowsley Council’s green spaces team, alongside community organisations. From bushcraft to bug hunts, family walks and big butterfly counts, there are lots of opportunities for residents to explore the outdoors and get closer to nature.
Here’s what’s coming up in parks and community venues throughout the summer:
Borough-wide
We are working with Knowsley Older Persons Voice to host a series of accessible guided walks in our parks throughout the summer to encourage residents aged over 55 to be more familiar with our parks, their facilities and the natural environment.
Thursday 31st July: Kirkby: Tower Hill, meet at Towerhill Community Centre, Ebony Way for 10am
Friday 1st August: Prescot/ Knowsley Village: Oak Plantation, meet at Oak Plantation entrance for 10am
Tuesday 5th August: Huyton: St John’s Millennium Green and McGoldrick, meet at The Old School House for 10am.
Friday 8th August – Halewood – Goddard Green and Court Farm Woods, meet at Goddard Green on Lightoaks Drive for 10am.
Monday 11th August: Kirkby: Mill Dam and Millbrook Millennium Green. Meet at Mill Dam Café for 10am
Tuesday 12th August- Prescot: KGV Browns & Carr Lane. Meet at Carr Lane Car Park for 10am
Monday 18th August: Stadt Moers Park, meet at Stadt Moers Environment Centre, Pottery Lane for 10am.
Tuesday 19th August: Halewood: Finch Woods, meet at Volair Leisure Centre for 10am.
Library Sessions
We have teamed up with the libraries service to deliver some nature-based activities to tie in to the Summer in the Great Outdoors. Come and join our team offering sessions across Knowsley on the following dates:

The summer programme also coincides with Love Parks Week (26 July – Sunday 4 August).
Love Parks Week is a national campaign organised by ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ to promote and celebrate our parks and green spaces. This year the theme is ‘Proud of our Parks’ in celebration of Knowsley Pride and the love of our parks.
