Kirkby Gallery is inviting visual artists, craftspeople, designers and makers to take part in this year’s Crafted exhibition.
On from Monday 30 October 2023 – Saturday 6 January 2024, the biennial exhibition showcases and sells a diverse range of contemporary craft, design, sculpture and fine art by North West based practitioners.
Applicants have until Friday 24 March to apply.
This year’s Crafted exhibition will be co-curated by Liverpool Book Art and a significant core display will focus on work that celebrates the breadth of the creative practice of book art.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said:
“Kirkby Gallery is committed to supporting local and regional talent and Crafted is one of the many ways the gallery shines a spotlight on the talent that’s right here in the North West. This year’s theme of book art is an exciting one and is a great theme for creatives to start from so I’d urge any local artists to get involved and take up this fantastic opportunity.”
As well as exhibiting work, Kirkby Gallery is also asking for expressions of interest from applicants who would like to deliver workshops throughout the exhibition duration.
Like to apply?
Send up to 5 jpegs of the works to be exhibited (and weblink if available), an artist’s statement, CV, full contact details (inc. email and postal address) and price list to tina.ball@knowsley.gov.uk by Friday 24 March, 4pm.
As well as hosting a private view on Thursday 26 October, Kirkby Gallery is exploring the prospect of hosting a fair over the opening week, which coincides with the October half term break in Knowsley. Further details
Please note, exhibiting artists will be required to deliver and collect unsold work at the end of the exhibition from the Gallery (there is no financial assistance for this). The commission rate for Kirkby Gallery on sales is 25%.
The gallery expect all exhibiting artists to present artwork covering a wide price range, from ‘signature’ pieces through to more affordable pieces, to encourage sales. With this in mind, gallery staff ask to be provided with a small back stock of work (if applicable) to be able to sell work and refresh displays throughout the course of the exhibition.
