Prescot’s Elizabethan Fayre returns on Saturday 8 June to celebrate the town’s Elizabethan heritage.
The FREE fayre is a popular date in Knowsley’s events calendar and this year will be even more special as Knowsley the Borough also celebrates its 50th birthday.
The fun-filled day will be packed with something for everyone to enjoy…
- With your help, Wing It Impro and Rubbish Shakespeare Company will present a completely improvised Shakespeare play!
- See the fire jesters in action showing off their dynamic fire dancing skills.
- Enjoy Terrible Tudor Tales that were shared in tavern yards, churchyards, and marketplaces long ago.
- Create your own your own Elizabethan shadow puppets and create your own shadow puppet show.
- Don’t miss the Bubble Fairy and her giant bubbles.
- Learn some new circus skills, have a go at archery and make your own clay pot or candle.

There will also be dancing, music, craft workshops, artisan stalls, birds of prey and the chance to learn more about Prescot’s fascinating history.
In Elizabethan times, Prescot was the only place in the whole of the country, aside from London, to have a free-standing purpose-built theatre. Today it is home to Shakespeare North Playhouse, a new theatre and cultural venue in the heart of the town inspired by William Shakespeare and his love of storytelling.
