Some of Knowsley’s keen growers and gardeners have started work on their submissions for this summer’s Flower Show but there’s still time for you to take part as well!
We know more people than ever have taken an interest in gardening over the last two years so why not grow, enter the show and see your exhibit in the giant floral and vegetable marquee on site. You don’t need to be an experienced gardener, anyone can enter the show, and there are novice and children’s categories too.
The schedule is now live, and you can see what categories you can enter by following this link
Knowsley Flower Show Secretary, Christine Yates said:
“After two years we are delighted to see the Flower Show and Feelgood Festival return, bigger and better than ever. What’s most exciting is that we’re coming back during Knowsley’s special year as Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture.
“We encourage everyone to take part whether you’re new to gardening or have been doing it for years. As gardeners we can do so much to improve our environment, every flower helps our wildlife, every tree planted helps to reduce air pollution and is a legacy we can leave to future generations. So please get involved and I can’t wait to see what people produce this summer.”
EXCITEMENT GROWS
In anticipation of the Flower Show and Feelgood Festival, a free gardening workshop was hosted at Court Hey Park on 22 April, the home of the annual festival. Here participants took part in seed sowing, herb planting sessions delivered by Incredible Edible and were able to get first-hand knowledge and growing tips with the Flower Show Committee.
Artist Faith Bebington also led workshops for people to create wildflowers out of recyclable materials. These will be displayed in a field of Wonderful Wildflowers at the flower show this year.

If you want to make a wildflower, Faith is hosting another workshop on Wednesday 1 June from 12noon – 3pm at Court Hey Park as part of the Jubilee celebrations organised by Friends of Court Hey Park. To find out more and to book your space please email Carla.simkin@knowsley.gov.uk
The Wonderful Wildflower project is funded through a Knowsley Heritage Grant facilitated by One Knowsley and supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund.
