Children and families at Roby Park School in Huyton are set to experience a free magical winter wonderland experience this year thanks to a generous donation from local company Next Energy.
Pupils and their families will be able to attend the school’s very own Christmas Market – a winter wonderland jam packed with festive fun, games, rides and something for everyone to enjoy absolutely free of charge.
The event, being organised by the school and funded by Next Energy, aims to bring some festive cheer to families who may be struggling as a result of the cost-of-living crisis.
Headteacher Kathryn Allen said: “So many of families are finding it really hard to cope at the moment as food and fuel costs are ever increasing. Christmas can put an even bigger burden on parents and carers so we are delighted to be able to do something, which is absolutely free of charge for our entire school community to enjoy. Hopefully it will an event the whole family can enjoy and we will be able to create some wonderful experiences and memories for our families.
“Finding funding for these things is always hard but Next Energy have been so generous and their gift to the school is one that will be appreciated by so many people this Christmas. It’s a big collective thank you to Next Energy from the Roby Park family!”
Lee McNally who is co-founder of next energy along with Michael Madigan, grew up in Huyton and is keen to give something back to the local community that supported and encouraged him as a youngster. Appreciating how tough it is for some families as the cost-of-living crisis really starts to bite, he was keen to do something that could bring some festive cheer to the local community. After a conversation with the Head of Roby Park School, Lee was really keen to get involved.
He said: “When I spoke to Mrs Allen, I was really struck by just how many families she knew who were already struggling financially as a result of the cost-of-living crisis. Christmas can bring even more stress for some families so I just wanted to help out.
“The plans for the Christmas Market are just magical and I am so pleased that with our help, this little bit of festive cheer will bring a boost to local families and kids.”
