If your New Year’s resolution includes nurturing a new skill or finding a friendly, creative outlet, Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum have a host of creative workshops kicking off in January 2026.
Mindful Mondays
Mindful Mondays is a six-week programme designed for creative self-care and boosting your mental wellbeing. Led by artist tutor Catherine Woods, it’s a chance to feed your mind, recharge your batteries, and cheer up your soul through creative activities. The course involves various artistic and reflective skills, including Collage, Painting, Journaling, Doodling, and Book Art.
This course at Kirkby Gallery is free to attend but must be booked in advance. The courses have been funded thanks to the support of the Liverpool Community Impact fund, via ‘Friends of Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum’ community group.

Course 1: Mondays, 1-3pm from 19 January to 23 February 2026
Course 2: Mondays, 1-3pm from 2 March – 6 April, 1–3pm
Tuesday SEWcial
Want to be more “sewciable”? The Tuesday SEWcial is a weekly, relaxed, and informal social sewing group. Participants will take part in a group-based project, introduced and guided by a textile professional. It’s a great opportunity to share and develop your sewing skills while meeting and chatting with people. Beginners are welcome.
This course at Kirkby Gallery is free to attend, but booking is essential.

The course is free to attend, but booking is essential. All attendees must join the Friends of Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum (FOKGPM) annual membership scheme, who fund this course. Basic materials will be provided, but participants can bring their own oddments.
An Introduction to Digital Photography
This course, based at Prescot Museum, consists of eight consecutive sessions led by professional photographer Steve Samosa. You will learn how to master the art of digital photography by understanding the functions and settings of your equipment and how to take great photographs. The sessions cover key areas, including Camera Settings, Composition, Shutter Speed, Aperture and Depth of Field, Focusing, Light, The Exposure Triangle, Equipment, Post-production, Raw Files, and Indoor and Outdoor Photography.
The course is free to attend, but booking is essential and all attendees must join the Friends of Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum (FOKGPM) annual membership scheme, who fund this course.
Participants need to bring along their own camera or phone camera/smartphone.
