Work has started on a new mural in Halewood, representing the local area, its intriguing history, renowned individuals, and significant landmarks.
Knowsley Council has commissioned Stuart Harrison, an award-winning character designer and cartoon illustrator, to complete the mural. Stuart started work on the hand-painted mural last week and it is expected to be complete in the next few days.
The design of the mural was developed through consultation with the local community, in September 2025. This included a consultation day at The Hub on Camberley Drive, where the mural is being installed.
The consultation day was open to everyone to meet the artist, to see some of his previous work, to share their thoughts and ideas and talk about what they would like to see in a mural in their local area.
The result is a bright and colourful design that is rooted in the Halewood community. It brings together stories and memories from local people about their local area, significant moments in history and key landmarks and people that are important to them.
It is packed full of local facts and information about Halewood, notable people with connections to the area, places, and moments in history that the artist has cleverly brought together in a fun and engaging design.

The Halewood mural is the latest in a series of artworks situated across Knowsley all showcasing different styles and ideas relevant to the local community in that area.
An interpretation panel will be displayed alongside the mural, and a post card will be shared with local schools, detailing the ideas and content of the design.
The Halewood mural includes references to Ford, the Halewood Triangle, local sporting and musical greats, Blackie the War Horse and more.
