It’s not just big names who are coming to the borough this month for the Knowsley Music Festival, local bars and venues will also host a whole host of music events.
Knowsley Council did an open call inviting promoters, venues and programmers to submit a request to be part of this year’s festival. They were given the opportunity to bid for funding to put on a music event of their choosing.
From Latin American music to a talent competition, the successful applicants will be bringing something for everyone.
Knowsley Music Festival features many household names including China Crisis, Craig Charles, Space, John Power, Ian Prowse, The Real Thing, DJ Les Spaine and ZuZu but this fringe event gives a range of musicians the opportunity to perform.
The Knowsley Music Festival line-up has been brought together by Liverpool-based music consultant Yaw Owusu who said “I am thrilled to be curating such a special music festival here in Knowsley that will give audiences the opportunity to see world-class talent. However, grass-roots venues and performers are crucial to presenting a full programme that really demonstrates the musical passion and talent that exists across the borough, and we have a fantastic programme of gigs coming up.”
Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said:
“I’m really proud that we have financially supported this call out. Not only does it create a really rich programme of music events, with something for everyone but it also supports our local businesses.”
