A brand-new art project is coming to Halewood Park, which explores the history and ecology of the area.
Artists Juneau Projects, in collaboration with Heart of Glass will work with the community to create a new sculptural art trail for Halewood’s parks and green spaces in a project entitled ‘Nature Neighbours’
Throughout August, a series of free, drop-in workshops will be held at the Halewood Park Environment Centre, inviting local residents to come and create clay sculptures that represent the wildlife found in the area.
The artists will then cast each sculpture in metal, so they’ll be long-lasting and weather resistant. Participants will be invited back to paint their sculptures in September and add the final touches.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “We’re delighted to welcome Heart of Glass back to Halewood to create another beautiful sculpture trail celebrating the heritage of the park and woodlands here.
“This is a lovely opportunity for the local community to help shape this artwork trail and leave their own lasting legacy on the park.”
Workshops are open to all ages – you don’t need any previous experience with art to take part
The workshops take place on the following dates:
Wednesday 7 August at 12.30pm
Thursday 8 August at 12pm
Friday 9 August at 1pm
Monday 12 August at 11am
Each workshop will last three hours, with plenty of breaks. There will be drinks provided but please feel free to bring your own snack or a packed lunch
The Halewood Park Environment Centre is located at Okell Dr, Liverpool L26 7XB
