The summer holidays are officially here! If you’re looking for ways to fill the next six weeks look no further that Knowsley’s Libraries, who are hosting a whole range of fun, free activities for all ages.
Huyton, Halewood, Kirkby, Prescot and Stockbridge Village libraries have put together action-packed programmes across all branches to keep the kids busy.
As well as regular crafting sessions, where kids can make everything from a 3D lizard to their very own rocket ship, a series of special one-off events will take place at the libraries throughout the summer.
Join author Robin Simpson for some Epic Adventures! Robin will take you on a journey through a magnificent maze but be careful, while the route may be full of family-friendly fun and quirky quizzes, you might just find yourselves up against the mighty Minotaur, or worse!
Linked with the Ready, Set, Read!, Summer Reading Challenge 2023 these events are sure to be a workout for the body and mind with active games and quizzes alongside Robin’s spectacular storytelling skills.
Robin will be at:
- Halewood Library on Tuesday 25 July from 11am – 12pm
- Stockbridge Village Library on Tuesday 25 July from 2pm – 3pm
- Huyton Library on Tuesday 8 August from 11am – 12pm
- Kirkby Library on Tuesday 8 August from 2pm – 3pm
- Prescot Library on Friday 11 August from 11am – 12pm
There is also the opportunity to learn all about minibeasts with ethical animal encounter specialists, ZooLab. Minibeasts have existed for around 550 million years and make up approximately 97% of creatures on Earth! In fact, the UK alone is home to 25,000 different species – these little creatures are quite a big deal.
The event answers all the big questions such as – What do Minibeasts have inside them? Are there any similarities between our bodies and theirs?
ZooLab will be at:
- Stockbridge Village Library on Tuesday 1 August from 11am – 12pm
- Kirkby Library on Tuesday 1 August from 1.15pm – 2.10pm
- Prescot Library on Friday 4 August from 11.05 – 12pm
- Halewood Library on Friday 4 August from 1.15 – 2.10pm
Finally, children have the opportunity to get up and moving with award-winning world dance company, Movema at a special dance session at Huyton Library on Tuesday 15 August from 2pm – 3pm.
