Following on from their successful summer trails in Huyton and Halewood, the Owl and Pussy-cat sculptures have come to spend the winter months in cosy Prescot Shopping Centre.
29 of the (now iconic) Knowsley sculptures have been in residence at the Shopping Centre since Monday 2 October and have already been spotted and shared on social media by eagle eyed residents.
The sculptures were created as part of Knowsley’s celebrations during its year as the Liverpool City region’s Borough of Culture in 2022. Each one was painted by an artist or community group with scenes and images depicting aspects of life in the borough.
This is the first time the sculptures have been displayed in an indoor environment, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy them through the winter months and giving the sculptures themselves protection from the elements.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “Until now, residents and visitors have only been able to experience the Owl and Pussy-cat sculptures during the summer months but their latest residency at Prescot Shopping Centre means they can be experienced throughout the winter months too.
“These whimsical sculptures have had a warm reception everywhere they’ve been so far, and I know that it will be no different in Prescot.”
You can see the Owl and Pussy-cat sculptures throughout Prescot Shopping Centre now and until May 2024.
