Thursday 5 March is World Book Day, an annual celebration of reading and literature. World Book Day aims to promote a love of reading, introduce new authors and genres to readers, and highlight the importance of books.
Giving children and young people the opportunity to own a book of their choice is at the heart of World Book Day’s mission to encourage reading for pleasure.
For the third year running, Huyton Library, and Kirkby Library are taking part in World Book Day by becoming a community token exchange hub. This means that children can swap their World Book Day Tokens at either library for a free World Book Day book!
There are a host of titles available for all ages and stages of reader including Pablo & Splash: The Castle Quest, Bear Rescue, Unbelievable Football: The Most Amazing World Cup Stories You Never Knew!, Funny FACTopia and many more.

Cllr Jayne Lonergan, Cabinet Member for Resources said:
“We’re delighted to support World Book Day once again and to help make sure every child has the chance to enjoy a book of their own. Reading opens up imagination, builds confidence, and supports learning in so many ways.
“By offering families a place to exchange their World Book Day tokens locally, our libraries are helping to make reading accessible, enjoyable and part of everyday life. I’d encourage families to pop into Huyton or Kirkby Library, discover this year’s fantastic titles, and celebrate the joy of reading together.”
This offer is available from now until Saturday 14 March and if children don’t receive their token in school, they can collect them from the libraries.
