Calling all early and mid-career choreographers. We have a fantastic opportunity to lead an ambitious mass dance project as part of Knowsley’s Borough of Culture 2022 programme.
Working alongside globally renowned Creative Consultant, Jeanefer Jean-Charles, and up to 20 local dance schools and sports clubs this role will help create and deliver a new mass dance piece celebrating Knowsley’s rich sporting heritage and telling the borough’s stories of people, places and magic.
Jeanefer Jean-Charles is a globally respected Creative Director and Producer with over 20 years’ experience, specialising in large-scale performances, opening ceremonies, stadium events, outdoor spectacles, carnivals, and parades. Her work has taken her to over 21 countries and has gone down in the Guinness Book of Records.
The final dance piece will be showcased outdoors as part of the finale of a week-long Sporting Legends Relay in July. The project is designed to share skills and strengthen the dance sector in Knowsley, engaging local dance schools, sports people and sporting audiences in arts and cultural activity.
Role specifics:
Recruitment: March/April
Project development: April/May (must be available for 4 days W/c 9th May)
Rehearsals: May/June/July (must be available 17th July)
Performance: Saturday 23 July (must be available to attend the performance)
Fee: £3,000 freelance position
