Bowring Park is getting ready for a full weekend of live music, food, drinks, games and entertainment as its first ever Oktoberfest gets underway this Friday.
Running from Friday 2 October to Sunday 4 October, Oktoberfest at Bowring will take over The Coach House and surrounding areas of the park, with three days of entertainment throughout the weekend, with no ticket needed.
The celebrations begin on Friday night before Saturday becomes the main event, with activity running from 12pm and live music taking the celebrations into the evening.
Visitors can expect local market stalls, rides, beer pong, food and Oktoberfest-inspired drinks, including steins of German lager and specially created cocktail steins.
Live music will be at the heart of Saturday’s programme, with Christian Owens performing from 4pm-6pm, followed by John Riley from 6pm-8pm.
Liverpool band The Graft will then headline Bowring’s first Oktoberfest, taking to the stage from 8pm-9pm.
There will also be games and activities running throughout the day, giving visitors plenty to do away from the stage, while local traders will be on site across the weekend.
The event continues a packed year of activity at Bowring Park, following a summer which saw thousands of people visit for community events, family fun days and the park’s first Music Festival.
Oisin Hennessy, Director of Oneday Leisure, said: “We’ve had a brilliant summer at Bowring Park and we didn’t want that feeling of bringing people together for big events to stop just because summer was over.
“Oktoberfest is something completely new for us. We’ve got live music, games, food, drinks, traders and plenty happening throughout the weekend, but Saturday is when we’re really going for it.
“Having The Graft headline our first Oktoberfest is a brilliant addition and, importantly, there’s no ticket needed. People can come down during the day, bring the family, meet friends, stay for the music or make a full day of it.
“We want Bowring to be somewhere people keep coming back to and where there’s always something new happening.”
The celebrations will continue on Sunday, rounding off three days of Oktoberfest activity at the park.
Oktoberfest at Bowring takes place from Friday 2 October to Sunday 4 October at The Coach House at Bowring Park, Huyton. No ticket or booking needed, entry is free. Saturday’s main day begins at 12pm, with live music from 4pm and The Graft headlining from 8pm–9pm.
