Prescot’s Elizabethan Fayre returns on Saturday 7 June to celebrate the town’s Elizabethan heritage.
The FREE fayre is a popular date in Knowsley’s events calendar and as always, the fun-filled day will be packed with something for everyone to enjoy…
- Smoked: a storybook walkabout with the Knight of the Realm, Sir Manly, or his wife Lady Lovely, as they seek the brave of heart to join the Order of St George: Defender of Dragons.
- The Story Forge: Make Your Own Tudor Myth – brought to you by the Rubbish Shakespeare Company. Help shape the stories and even become a hero from English folklore in this hilarious 16th Century themed interactive experience!
- See the fire jesters in action showing off their dynamic fire dancing skills.
- Enjoy Terrible Tudor Tales – stories that were once shared in tavern yards, churchyards, and marketplaces long ago.
- Create your own your own Elizabethan shadow puppets and create your own shadow puppet show.
- Don’t miss the Bubble Fairy and her giant bubbles.
- Learn some new circus skills, have a go at archery and make your own clay pot or candle.
- Look out for Queen Elizabeth and Sir Francis Drake and have your photo taken with Royalty!
There will also be dancing, music, craft workshops, artisan stalls, birds of prey and the chance to learn more about Prescot’s fascinating history.
In Elizabethan times, Prescot was the only place in the whole of the country, aside from London, to have a free-standing purpose-built theatre. Today it is home to Shakespeare North Playhouse, a multi award-winning theatre and cultural venue in the heart of the town inspired by William Shakespeare and his love of storytelling.
