This English Tourism Week, Friday 14 – Sunday 23 March, we’re celebrating the amazing attractions we have here in the borough.
From animals to art, golf to theatre, a walk in nature or a bite to eat, there is plenty for you to enjoy in Knowsley all year round.

With lots of FREE activities and places to visit, here’s a selection of what you can experience.
Take a drive around Knowsley Safari
Knowsley’s five-mile safari drive is the longest in the UK and home to everything from cheeky baboons to the magical lion pride. There’s also a Foot Safari with walking trails through woodland and tiger enclosures and animal habitats. Visit the website to find out more and to plan your visit
Watch Love’s Labour’s Lost at Shakespeare North Playhouse, Prescot
Get ready for an unforgettable night at the theatre as Shakespeare’s riotous comedy, Love’s Labour’s Lost, is brought to life in the nineties, featuring belting musical numbers in the era of boy bands and Girl Power. You can book tickets here.

Visit the farm
Acorn Farm in Kirkby is open 7 days a week. In addition to a wide range of farm animals, it’s also home to outdoor play areas, a café, a woodland walk. Visit a library
Knowsley has five libraries to choose from, all with a wide range of reading materials, special events, craft clubs and school holiday activities. Visit the libraries website for more information and to plan your visit
Enjoy the great outdoors
Take a walk in one of Knowsley’s 20 Green Flag Parks, keep littles ones entertained with exciting play spaces, natural play areas or work out using a Green Gym. Whether you are looking for accessible footpaths, play areas, wildlife, ponds or woodland you can search online to find the perfect park to visit
History and Heritage
If you’d like to find out more about Knowsley’s fascinating history, you can follow a heritage walking route around Knowsley’s historic conservation areas.
Prescot Museum tells the story of Knowsley through colourful displays of images and objects. The collection focuses on local people, businesses and industries such as watchmaking, pottery manufacturing, cable making and coal mining.
Visit Stone Street in Prescot – the second narrowest street in the country.
Did you know Knowsley is home to the Grade II listed grave of Blackie the War Horse? You can find the site in Halewood.
Sport
Test out your golfing ability at Bowring Park Golf Club, the oldest municipal course in the UK or Huyton and Prescot Golf Club, founded in 1905. Both boasting gorgeous greens, rolling fairways and challenging holes.

Art
Kirkby Gallery is one of the best contemporary art galleries in the north west of England. The Knowsley Open Art Exhibition, featuring 364 works of art created by people who live, work or study in Knowsley, is currently showing.
