The Posh Club, an inclusive celebration of cabaret, connection and positive ageing, brought glamour and good times to Quarry Green Tenants Association Club in Kirkby on Tuesday 7 October as over 100 local residents aged 60+ and the Mayor and Mayoress of Knowsley gathered for an afternoon of entertainment, afternoon tea and togetherness.
Presented by Heart of Glass and supported by Arts Council England as part of its Creative People and Place programme, the event marked the second Merseyside outing for The Posh Club. It follows on from its sold-out debut in St Helens earlier this year – with a return visit to St Helens Town Hall taking place on Thursday 9th October.
This edition featured a new line-up of performers, including much-loved Merseyside drag artist Dross, who hosted the event with wit and warmth, meanwhile Young Elvis entranced audiences with a hip-shaking performance, and guests were also treated to the beautiful dance moves of Levantes Dance Theatre and breathtaking shadow puppetry from Drew Colby

Meanwhile MAFIA (Mature And Fit Inclusive Association) – a dynamic local group of amateur dancers- had the whole room cheering with their spontaneous line dancing.

With black-tie waiters serving tea and cake on vintage crockery, and live performances throughout the afternoon, the event offered an uplifting space for people to connect, celebrate and enjoy themselves in good company. The Mayor and Mayoress of Knowsley added to the festivities by choosing the raffle prizes.

Created by London’s LGBTQIA+ Duckie collective, The Posh Club is a performance-led social event designed to combat isolation and celebrate older people through joyful, high-quality cultural experiences.
Kat Dempsey Executive Director at Heart of Glass, said:
“It was brilliant to see Quarry Green come alive with laughter, dancing and connection. The Posh Club shows the power of the arts to create spaces where older people feel valued, seen and part of something special.”
