Tall Tales is a brand-new large-scale community artwork that will see Merecliff – a residential 16 storey tower in Stockbridge Village – animated and illuminated in light. The dramatic projection which will be accompanied by a soundtrack, will tell the story of local people and communities who have shared their stories, memories, hopes and dreams about the place they call home.
These Tall Tales, captured, interpreted and exaggerated by artists Illuminos will be brought to life over two incredible evenings in February.
This free outdoor event is being delivered in partnership with Knowsley Council, ForHousing and the local community.
When will it take place?
Friday 4 February, 6pm onwards (last showing 7.30pm)
Saturday 5 February, 6pm onwards (last showing 7.30pm)
How long does it last?
The Tall Tales projection itself lasts approximately 15 minutes and will be shown twice per hour from 6pm on each evening. The timings will be 6pm; 6.30pm; 7pm; 7.30pm.
Do I have to arrive at 6pm?
No, visitors can arrive anytime from 6pm onwards. The last showing will be 7.30pm.
Where is it happening?
The projection will appear on Merecliff in Stockbridge Village. A road closure will be in place around the flats, so visitors should head – on foot - to Denecliff car park, Stockbridge Village, L28 5RD to be able to view this fantastic projection.
Please note: the Denecliff car park will be closed to vehicles and no parking will be available here.
I am driving, where can I park?
A map will be available nearer the time with suggested places to park close by. It is also easily accessible by foot from the rest of the Stockbridge Village area.
Do I need to book tickets in advance?
No, the event is free, and you don’t need to get tickets.
Who is the event for?
The event is open to everyone and it is free to attend.
However, people should be aware of the following:
- The event is outdoors and there will be no seats available for the general public
- Given the time of year, the weather cannot be guaranteed so appropriate clothing should be worn
- In the event of cancellation due to extreme bad weather this will be publicised on Culture Knowsley and ForHousing website and social media
Are disabled visitors or those with additional needs able to visit?
Yes. The site will be accessible. There will be accessible toilets available to use in Knowsley Town Council Pavilion.

Are toilets available?
Knowsley Town Council are kindly providing access to the toilets in the Community Pavilion. These will be signposted on the night and you can ask our friendly stewards where they are located.
Will food and drink available?
Yes there will be some provision to buy soft drinks and snacks.
You can bring your own soft drinks and snacks but please be advised that no alcohol is permitted, and all litter must be disposed of in the bins provided.
Will I be able to take photographs?
Of course! There will be plenty of ‘instagrammable’ moments so please snap away! Please tag @cultureknowsley and @ForHousing in any pictures you post on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
Have I seen Tall Tales somewhere before?
No, Tall Tales has been developed by Illuminos based on the stories and memories shared by the Stockbridge Village Community so this will be a unique experience for Stockbridge Village and everyone who comes along.
