"In 1971, when the Huyton Boys team secured victory in the English Schools Under 15 F.A. Cup, Huyton Council organised a Civic Reception.
During this event, each team member received a shield from the council to honour their accomplishment. This shield belongs to my brother Peter, but the hand depicted in the casting is mine, representing a moment of appropriated recognition.
Peter Reid was born in Sefton General Hospital and resided on Wimborne Road and Gloucester Road.
His educational journey began at Saint Dominic’s, followed by Saint Aidan’s, Saint Joseph’s and finally at Saint Augustine of Canterbury. Reid was a distinguished member of the Huyton Boys ESFA Cup-winning team of 1971. He represented England six times at the under-21 level and earned 13 full international caps.
