Exhibition from world famous children’s illustrator Sir Quentin Blake

‘Quentin Blake: Illustrating Verse’ is now on at Kirkby Gallery until 16 April 2022.

The free exhibition is a key part of Knowsley’s celebrations as the Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture and is already proving popular with visitors.

120 pieces of work, specially selected by the artist himself, are on display.

Sir Quentin Blake has been illustrating poetry throughout his 60-year career, creating illustrations for such varied poets as Roald Dahl and Sylvia Plath. Quentin Blake: Illustrating Verse brings together a selection of Blake’s illustrations for poetry of all kinds, from comic nonsense poems to poignant ballads.

A highlight of the exhibition will be his illustrations for Edward Lear’s ‘The Owl and The Pussy-Cat’ and illustrations for a poem by William Shakespeare – writers who will both be celebrated throughout the year.

‘Quentin Blake: Illustrating Verse’ is an exhibition from House of Illustration - www.houseofillustration.org.uk
