Prescot Photo Club is hosting its first public exhibition at Shakespeare North Playhouse, showcasing a collection of photographic work that celebrates creativity, community and the diverse perspectives of local photographers. The exhibition is on now and runs until 25 July,
Prescot Photo Club was formed by a group of local photographer who participated in Historic England’s project Picturing High Streets in 2023 which was led in Prescot by photographic artist Tony Mallon. The group formed Prescot Photo Club in June 2024, supported by Open Eye Gallery and Tony.
The club brings together photographers of all experience levels who share a passion for photography and photographs, learning and creative expression in a non-competitive environment. Through regular meetings, workshops and outings, members develop their skills while fostering a strong sense of community.
This exhibition marks a significant achievement for the club and features images captured by club members of all experience levels, presenting a wide range of subjects and styles.
“We are incredibly proud to be holding our first exhibition at Shakespeare North Playhouse, one of the North West’s most exciting cultural venues” said Dot Daw, Chair of Prescot Photo Club. “Our members have worked hard to create a collection that reflects not only their individual artistic visions but also the spirit of collaboration and friendship that defines our club. We hope visitors will enjoy exploring the work and seeing the world through our lenses.”
The exhibition is free to view during Shakespeare North Playhouse opening hours from 30th June to 25th July and visitors will have the opportunity to view work from photographers at different stages of their artistic journey, illustrating the inclusive and supportive ethos of the club.
