New Dawn Light Spectacular

The New Dawn programme will come to a spectacular climax over two consecutive evenings in February.

Lucky ballot winner will get the unique opportunity to enjoy an enchanting light show celebrating Knowsley’s colourful past, present and future set in the majestic grounds of Knowsley Hall.
The iconic Knowsley landmark will be illuminated in a series of dramatic projections recreating a vision of a pop-up story book – a fairytale of lights and sound, telling the stories of the borough.
Delivered by video projection artists Illuminos and accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack from renowned composer Patrick Dineen the spectacular will create a unique and memorable moment for all visitors.
When will it take place?
The New Dawn Light Spectacular will take place on the evenings of Friday 18 February and Saturday 19 February, with two showings per night.

Guests are asked to arrive an hour before the time of their showing to allow enough time to be transported to the venue via a Park & Ride scheme.
Will all guests need to use the Park & Ride?
Yes. Given the numbers expected and space needed for the projections parking will be located at Knowsley Safari. All guests will arrive at the Safari and be transported by bus to the front of Knowsley Hall. Face masks should be worn (unless exempt) when using the Park & Ride facility.
There will be no public access at the front of the venue.
Separate wheelchair friendly transportation is being arranged for those with additional needs. Please make sure you let the organisers know in advance if you require additional assistance. Where will I park?
All visitors are asked to make their way to the main entrance of Knowsley Safari, Prescot L34 4AN and show their ticket confirmation. They will then be directed to the Park & Ride facility on site.
Visitors attending the 6pm showing should arrive from 5pm (and no later than 5.30pm) to ensure they will be in position in time for the event.
Visitors attending the 9pm showing should arrive from 8pm (and no later than 8.30pm) to ensure they will be in position in time for the event.
Anyone who arrives after that time cannot be guaranteed entry to the event, so please be prompt.
What happens after the event is finished?
Once the event is finished, please make your way back to the place where you were dropped off.
Visitors attending the 6pm showing will be transported back to the Safari from 7pm
Visitors attending the 9pm showing will be transported back to the Safari from 10pm.
Visitors will then be able to leave via the Safari Park main entrance. All guests are asked to leave promptly to allow for additional viewings / closure of the park.
Who is the event for?
The event is open to everyone and it is free to attend.
However, people should be aware of the following:
- Everyone attending will be required to use the Park & Ride facility
- Guests will be required to walk a short distance up the driveway of The Hall to view the spectacular
- Parents of young children should be aware that space in limited on the buses so you are advised to not bring pushchairs or buggies
- The event is outdoors and there will be no seats available
- Given the time of year, the weather cannot be guaranteed so appropriate clothing should be worn
- No dogs are permitted
- Toilets will be available
Are disabled visitors or those with additional needs able to visit?
Yes. There will be an accessible bus provided on the Saturday evening for visitors with additional needs. There is a short walk from the drop off point up to the hall. Will there be food and drink available?
Given the duration of the event a small number of concessions will be selling drinks and light snacks only.
You are permitted to bring your own soft drinks and snacks but please be advised visitors are not permitted to bring their own alcohol. All litter must be taken with you at the end of the event.
Could it be cancelled due to bad weather?
The event can take place in most weather conditions although if there is a severe weather warning we may need to cancel due to safety. You will be informed via email and will also be publicised on the Culture Knowsley website and social media (@cultureknowlsey on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram).
Are there any health and safety rules I should know about?
We ask you not to attend if you test positive for Covid or display any symptoms of the virus. We would advise people to take a lateral flow test before they attend. You can obtain lateral flow test kits here.
Will I be able to take photographs?
Of course! There will be plenty of ‘instagrammable’ moments so please snap away! Please tag @cultureknowsley in any pictures you post on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
What is the best way to get to Knowsley Safari?
Knowsley Safari is clearly signposted from the M57 and easy to find. If you are not arriving by car there are great transport links nearby so it’s easy to visit Knowsley Safari from Liverpool and beyond. You can even walk to Knowsley Safari from Prescot Town Centre.
What if I can’t visit because I’m self-isolating because of coronavirus?
If you can’t attend, then please contact us and let us know so that we can reallocate the ticket.
