The Knowsley Music Festival returns from 8-22 November as part of celebrations for Knowsley’s 50th year, with performances from China Crisis, Pete Wylie and the Mighty Wah!, and Deaf School.
As with previous years, the main festival programme will be supported by the Knowsley Fringe Music Festival which will shine a spotlight on some of the region’s new and emerging local artists.
Funding is available from Knowsley Council’s Culture and Events team who want to hear from anyone who has an idea for a music event. The fund is open to local venues, promoters, programmers, or performers who have the chance to bid for funding of between £250- £600 to put on a gig in town centre and village venues.
The local programme will showcase Knowsley and Liverpool City Region artists, bands and performers and will take place in new and established music venues across Knowsley.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “We are delighted to bring the Music Festival back to Knowsley once again and while we have an amazing line up of artists for the main festival, it is so important that we celebrate local and emerging talent too.
“Our vision for the Fringe Music Festival is to open up new opportunities for live quality music in locations across the borough including bars, restaurants, and other town centre venues – many of which may not have hosted live music before.”

Funding bids will be judged on the following criteria:
Date – Your event must happen between Friday 8th November and Friday 22nd November 2024
Line Up – We are keen to showcase Knowsley artists, bands and performers and will place special focus on original music. (We will also consider applications showcasing Liverpool City Region musicians).
Music Policy – The music policy is open, but we do want to see attempts to make sure line ups reflect diversity and a fair gender balance and that the performers booked reflect high standards of reputation regarding conduct.
Cost – We expect the average support we will give to be between £250 – £600 so please only request within that range.
Venues – Events must take place within Knowsley, and we will strive to ensure there is activity Borough-wide.
Line Up and Venue – Both need to be realistic, and we request that preliminary discussions have already taken place with talent and venues to ensure the event is likely to occur. If awarded, you will have to communicate any changes made with the Knowsley Culture team.
Promotion – If successful, this will be considered a partnership event, and your event will be listed as part of the official music festival programme.
The Knowsley Culture Team will not be able to provide event support but where possible your event will be included in our communications activity e.g. event listings, social media support.
We also request you tag @cultureknowsley in any of your own social media posts and use #KnowsleyMusicFestival. Please also liaise with the Knowsley Council communications team if you wish to engage with the media about your event – communications@knowsley.gov.uk
