FAQ
Is it a ticketed event?
No, the event is not ticketed. However, the starting and ending location for the parade at St. John Fisher Primary School has a limit to capacity. If or once capacity is reached no additional persons will be able to enter the ground.
Disability Access
Are people who are wheelchair users or who have access requirements able to attend or participate in the event? Yes, the parade is intended for all the community to enjoy.
- The entrance/exit and grounds of St. John Fisher Church are fully accessible for wheelchairs.
- The parade route itself is fully accessible for people who are wheelchair users. A map of the parade route itself is on the webpage.
- There will be a disabled access portaloo toilet at the event.
If you require mobility support, have a disability, or have access or disability parking requirements and have any questions relating to access and the event then please contact bea.anderton@knowsley.gov.uk to discuss. The Culture and Events Service team will do it’s best to accommodate any access requirements and provide mobility support.
How do I get to St. John Fisher Church Parish grounds?
St. John Fisher Church is located on Tithebarn Road, Knowsley Village, L34 0EU.
We ask that participants and attendees make their way to the start of the parade or to their chosen position on the parade route by foot or public transport where possible. We also encourage attendees who live outside of Knowsley Village to make their way via public transport where possible due to there being no public car parks in Knowsley Village itself and off-road parking spaces in the village being limited.
Is parking available?
There is limited public parking available in Knowsley Village, of which the available car parking will be allocated to performers, event staff, event volunteers and parade participants.
What will the parade route be?
- The parade will begin at St. John Fisher Church Parish grounds.
- The parade will turn right out of the gate onto Tithebarne Road and turn right again onto Frederick Lunt Avenue.
- At the end of Frederick Lunt Avenue, the parade will then turn right onto Sugar Lane and parade up to Knowsley Village Primary School.
- The parade will then pause and turn around in the opposite direction so that it can complete the second half of the parade while making its way back to St. John Fisher Church Parish grounds via Frederick Lunt Avenue.

What will happen at the end of the parade?
The parade performers, participants and attendees will gather on the grounds of St. John Fisher Church for a short performance by Katumba and a short dance performance by local dance school DanceWorks. There will be a speech to close the parade.

Designed and decorated by artists with support from members of the local community these beautiful sculptures will be spread across borough. The public are encouraged to follow the trail, find all the creatures, photograph and record it on social media via a free downloadable app. In addition to the 32 large sculptures on display, local schools have also been working on designs for a further 50 smaller creatures who will also be posing up across the borough. The trail commemorates the fact that Edward Lear actually wrote his world-famous poem – The Owl & the Pussy-Cat – during his time living at Knowsley Hall. The incredible sculptures have all been produced by Wild in Art. A map and downloadable app will be available once the trail officially launches to the public.

Directed by Matthew Dunster, formerly associate director at both the Young Vic and Shakespeare’s Globe, the tale of young love, feuding fairies and mistaken identity gets a dose of realism in this brand-new version.
