Thursday 6 March is World Book Day, an annual celebration of reading and literature. World Book Day aims to promote a love of reading, introduce new authors and genres to readers, and highlight the importance of books.
Giving children and young people the opportunity to own a book of their choice is at the heart of World Book Day’s mission to encourage reading for pleasure.
For the second year running, Huyton Library and Kirkby Library are taking part in World Book Day by becoming a community token exchange hub. This means that children can swap their World Book Day Tokens at either library for a free World Book Day book!
There are a host of titles available for all ages and stages of reader including Pokemon, the Epic Pocket Guide, Bluey’s Little Book, This Story is a Lie and many more.

Cllr Jayne Lonergan, Cabinet Member for Resources said: “I’m delighted that Huyton and Kirkby Libraries are once again acting as community hubs for World Book Day. Providing children with the opportunity to choose and own a book is invaluable in fostering a lifelong love of reading. We encourage everyone to come along, swap their tokens, and discover the joy of a new story.”
This offer is available from now until Saturday 22nd March and if children don’t receive their token in school, they can collect them from the libraries.
