A Thousand Feet Deep

“A thousand feet deep, beneath the fields of Knowsley, is a land of power & invention. Magic is rising from under our feet.”

From 7-9 October, Stadt Moers Park in Whiston was transformed for ‘A Thousand Feet Deep’ by Periplum, an immersive outdoor performance spectacular exploring the history and spirit of Knowsley.

The 50-minute performance took audiences on an atmospheric journey exploring Knowsley’s myths and folklore. A unique narrative of the borough explored our industries and tales of the people that powered them.

Outdoor theatre makers, Periplum, worked with communities across the borough to gather stories, histories, myths and legends that were translated into the performance, which was accompanied by a soundtrack written by Barry Han, Mike Simmonds, Claire Raftery & Damian Wright and narrated by Eithne Brown, Ashleigh Nugent and Keddy Sutton.

A Thousand Feet Deep by Periplum was brought to you by Knowsley Borough of Culture with additional funding from Arts Council England.
