Knowsley Music Festival Takes to the Streets

It’s not just big names who are coming to the borough this month for the Knowsley Music Festival, local bars and venues will also host a whole host of music events – with something for everyone!

Knowsley Council did an open call inviting promoters, venues and programmers to submit a bid to be part of this year’s festival and the following were successful.

GRUPO LUMA

Experience the rich musical heritage of Latin America at the Imaginarium Roundhouse, Prescot with GRUPO LUMA; the musical arm of LUMA CREATIONS, the leading Latin American Arts & Culture Organisation in the North West.

Luma Creations were shortlisted for the LCR Cultural Awards People’s Choice award in 2021 and in 2022 have gone on from strength to strength. Grupo Luma were invited to perform at the Liverpool Philharmonic’s Music Room and performed in a range of festivals throughout the UK including El Sueño Existe in Mid Wales and the Horizon’s Festival in Manchester.

Edward W Feery (A Fringe Affair and Last Train to Sublime Street)

A double-header performance of works by local songwriter and storyteller Edward W Feery.

First up is A Fringe Affair, part-folk gig and part theatre, the performance has featured at Edinburgh Fringe festival every year since 2019.

Edward W Feery will also premier his latest show, Last Train To Sublime Street – a performance about Liverpool and its nightlife.

Electric Ukebox

The Electric Ukebox is a local Prescot/Huyton duo creating a unique sound using an electric ukulele and strong lead female vocals. The Electric Ukebox performs a variety convers from Adele to The Zutons and their own original tunes.

6 band night at The Bowring Park Pub featuring:

Seprona – Having toured across the UK supporting artists such as The Coral, The Fratellis, Blossoms, The Feeling and Space and appearing at a number of festivals, Serpona will be hosting a gig in their hometown with a host of fellow local bands and artists. Seprona have featured on BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, Radio X and broadcast to millions of people on ITV’s This Morning. Casino – Casino have sold out venues in Liverpool of 550 capacity and are currently doing a UK tour. The band will be supporting Jamie Webster in Glasgow and Leeds and The Lightning Seeds at Liverpool Olympia and Manchester Albert Hall. Their songs have also featured on Radio 2, Radio X and BBC 6 Music.

Katie Mac – She has sold out venues of 150 capacity, toured around the UK and completed a few spells in Europe. She recorded 2 of her EPs with Get Cape Wear Cape Fly in his personal studio in Essex and signing an initial record deal with Ditto Music to release. Her songs have been featured on BBC 6 Music and selected by Tom Robinson for Fresh on the Net. She is a Huyton artist, with her lyrics referencing pub names and places.

The Quiet Man – Named after the pub that once stood on Longview Drive, The Quiet Man are a relatively new band, however they have already supported artists at big shows to hundreds of people. The band is made up with 2 former members of the band Screaming Lights, who toured with bands such as Vampire Weekend and the Mystery Jets, and played at Reading and Leeds Festival.

Grace Parry – Grace is a new, young singer/songwriter from Huyton, just starting her musical journey and will be performing one of her first shows.
