Three hundred China Crisis fans packed out St Chad’s Church in Kirkby on Thursday 21 November for a very special homecoming performance and Q&A sessions with the audience.

Lead vocalist/keyboardist Gary Daly and guitarist/vocalist Eddie Lundon met at school in Kirkby and formed the band 1979, achieving significant success in the UK and across the globe during the 1980s.
China Crisis performed songs from their 45 year back catalogue including fan favourites and chart hits such Black Man Ray, Christian, Wishful Thinking, African and White and King in a Catholic Style.
At the end of their musical set there were questions from the audience, giving Gary and Eddie the opportunity to share stories and anecdotes about growing up in Kirkby and their success through the years.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “This is the second time China Crisis have appeared at the Knowsley Music Festival and having them perform in their hometown, at the beautiful St. Chad’s Church was truly special.”
They were the last act to perform in this year’s Knowsley Music Festival and it was the perfect gig to close out a fantastic festival celebrating 50 years of the borough.”
