Culture Knowsley is inviting young people aged 18 to 25 who live in, or are from, Knowsley to apply for two paid Young Music Promoter roles as part of the Knowsley Music Festival Fringe Programme in 2026.
The opportunity will give successful applicants the chance to gain behind-the-scenes experience of the Knowsley Music Festival, helping to shape and deliver the Fringe Programme while developing valuable skills for a future career in music, events or the wider creative industries.
No previous experience is required, with training, mentoring and support provided throughout the programme. Participants will gain hands-on experience of working on a music festival and learn more about event planning, promotion and delivery.
As part of the role, Young Music Promoters will help discover new artists, contribute to shaping the Fringe Programme, work with venues and performers across the borough, and gain experience in event budgeting and project planning. They will also work alongside artists and Knowsley Council’s communications team to gather content for marketing and promotion, support live events, and collect feedback to help inform future festivals.
The opportunity is open to anyone aged between 18 and 25 who lives in, or is from, Knowsley. Applicants do not need prior experience, but should be enthusiastic, reliable, keen to learn, and passionate about music and culture.
The freelance role will run for 8 days between October and December 2026, covering training, planning sessions, event delivery and evaluation. All agreed project days will be paid at a rate of £112.50 per day.
Those interested in applying are asked to email responses to three questions:
- Why they are interested in becoming a Young Music Promoter.
- What kinds of music events or projects they would like to see take place in Knowsley.
- What they would like to gain from the opportunity.
Culture Knowsley is encouraging applications from young people of all backgrounds and experiences. Support is available for anyone who requires assistance with their application or wishes to apply in an alternative format.
Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Sunday 20 September 2026. Interviews will take place in person at an accessible venue on Tuesday 29 September 2026, with successful applicants expected to begin the programme in early October.
Applications should be sent to jack.welsh@knowsley.gov.uk.
